Cord vs Half Cord vs Face Cord
Full Cord
A full cord is 128 cubic feet of stacked wood — a pile 4 feet high, 4 feet deep, and 8 feet long. That is the standard unit firewood is sold by nationwide.
Half Cord
A half cord is 64 cubic feet (half the volume of a full cord). Great for occasional fireplace use or trying our wood before committing to a full cord.
Face Cord
A face cord is not a full cord — it is a single row of 16–18 inch pieces stacked 4 feet high and 8 feet long, which is only about one-third of a full cord. Some sellers quote face cord prices that sound cheaper per "cord," but you are getting a third of the wood. We only sell true full cords and half cords, so you always know exactly how much you are getting.
Seasoned vs Kiln-Dried Firewood
Seasoned Firewood (What We Sell)
Our firewood is naturally seasoned — split and stacked outdoors for months until the moisture content drops below 20%. This is the traditional New England method, and it produces wood that burns cleaner and hotter than forced-dried wood. Ready to burn the day we deliver it.
Kiln-Dried Firewood
Kiln-dried firewood is dried in a heated chamber over a few days. It costs more (you are paying for the energy to run the kiln) and can be over-dried, burning too fast and producing less heat per log. We stick with natural seasoning for better value and burn quality.
